Skin needling, or micro-needling, is a treatment used to stimulate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. Skin needling is mostly used on the face and may be used to reduce the appearance of various scars, wrinkles and large pores. Skin needling is considered highly effective in treating minor scarring related to acne, wounds, and ageing. Skin will also be noticeably brighter and firmer too. Optimal results are achieved after a minimum of four sessions. Skin needling is minimally invasive and requires no down-time. The procedure is safe for most people who are in good overall health, but not recommended for people on certain acne medications or for pregnant women. You will experience minor redness and irritation for a few days after the procedure. Skin needling should only be performed by a certified dermatologist, plastic surgeon, or cosmetic surgeon. Total prep and procedure time is upwards of one hour, with both the time and cost dependant on the size of the area being worked. A minimum of four treatments is recommended for best results.
